One house, three metal finishes
This home sits on open meadow on Wilson Mesa, with the San Juan Mountains behind it. The owners chose three Western States finishes that work together: a Gray Zinc Matte standing seam roof, Matte Patina siding on the main house, and Speckled Blackened Copper on the garage and chimney chase. The matte, earthy finishes blend with the mesa and the mountain backdrop.
Western Slope Metals handled the full installation, from the roof panels and trim to the siding, soffit, fascia and the metal-clad chimney chase.

Chimney chase and roof details
The chimney chase is wrapped in Speckled Blackened Copper to match the garage. Where the chase meets the roof, a cricket behind it sheds water and snow around the chase, and the flashing is tied into the standing seam panels. The standing seam roof also runs alongside the home’s rooftop solar array.

Deep metal fascia, broken up with XL drip edge
This home has deep eaves with a tall fascia. A wide, flat metal face is prone to oil canning, the visible waviness that can show up on large flat panels. To reduce it, we broke the fascia up with an XL drip edge. The drip edge adds a crisp shadow line across the face, shortens each flat section, and helps reduce visible oil canning, while still keeping the clean, modern edge the design calls for.

Metal soffit
The eaves are finished with metal soffit panels to match the fascia, so the underside of the roofline is as clean as the face.
